EUREKA Click here to go to the website THE SNOB The Snob "Have you seen the new girl?" everyone wanted to know. We were eighth graders in a small town in Utah, and when a new girl came to school in the middle of the year, she was the subject of much discussion in the hallways. Her name was Cathy Carlisle - a beautiful name that sort of rolled from the tongue- and the name fit. She has moved to our town from Salt Lake City when her father bought a local car dealership. She was totally "citified," and her whoke appearance, from her hairstyle to her clothing, bespoke sophistication and money. To teenagers who had grown up in a small rural community and did most of their shopping one local department store, Cathy Carlisle represented a whole different world- a world that we admired and envied. One day a man was building a popcorn machine. After all that success, he decided to make a robot. He was almost finished when his 22 year old daughter came in his shop to visit. The daughter, Sam, wanted the robot after being surprised by it's capabilities. However, the robot's purpose was to help the father in the shop. The robot was made only of shapes which was impressive. The father was known as Mr. Creator and all he needed was a shape for the mouth of his robot. The dad finished the robot and made a little duplicate for his daughter and planned to have it done before his daughter's birthday. Unfortunately, the duplicate had an error and would not complete tasks. So, Mr. Creator had asked Robot to help him. Robot had built a robot made of flowers that could make drinks and meals. The flower petals would fix into fingers and the stems would extend like arms as the soil around hardened turning into a grill. Sam really loved her gift. - Odalys 2014 6th grade
